Film - Filming locations

Today I took pictures of the three filming locations to put with our risk assessment.

Film - Character descriptions

Below are the character descriptions, as produced by another member of the group:

Boy: The boy is one of the main characters. He is a local carpet salesman, dressed smart but not too smart. This suggests he is down to earth and doesn’t take himself too seriously. His clothing includes a light coloured shirt i.e. pale blue, a brightly coloured tie to reflect his personality, a black v neck jumper, smart trousers i.e. suit trousers and smart shoes. His character is the type of person who is able to start up a conversation quite easily. This shows when he asks the girl why she never gets on the bus and the subsequent conversation. 

Girl: The girl is another main character in the film. She appears at the start sitting at a bus stop, wearing a cardigan, t-shirt and jeans. Her clothes will look old and rough, due to the fact that she has not been able to buy any new ones. She is portrayed as an innocent girl and therefore uses these clothes to cover her body and to make her feel protected. They are clothes she can hide under to seek comfort. She has had a traumatic childhood and has an isolated teenage life, shrinking into herself and watching the world go by.     

Nurse: The Nurse appears briefly at the end of the film. She is dressed in her uniform, allowing the audience to easily recognise her character. The dress is a traditional/old style indicating that the mental home has quite a conventional approach to the way they treat the patients, i.e. that they have strict rules or systems in place. Her personality is of a sweet nature with a cynical edge which can be seen through her facial expressions and posture when the girl returns to the care home at the end of the day. 

Film - Getting organised

Last lesson three out of five members turned up to lesson. So the three of us spent the lesson going through our ideas and also creating a time plan to organise ourselves, as shown below.

The plan shows who needs to do what and by when. If all tasks are completed by the set date, this will allow us to film as planned.

This weekend, I have managed to complete a risk assessment form for filming at the bus stop and also managed to borrow some clothes off my brother and boyfriend. These clothes will be used for the boy character.

Film

Forth lesson into Moving Image and I have yet to post. So here it is!

During the first session we selected our team and got allocated a script, Ticket, which we are able to edit and add to. I was very pleased with the script given, as the main location is set on a bus, which will hopefully prove to be a challenging, yet fun aspect of the project.

Also, during this session we began to brainstorm ideas about the film, some successful, whilst others weren’t. I’m not going to lie, but I think we should have picked at least one person who is interested in film to be in our group. It was after the class had selected members when we realised none of us are that interested in film. However we are trying our best to produce a high standard film.

Brief outline of the story: The beginning of the film takes place at a bus stop, where a girl meets a boy. They end up going on a bus together and chatting until the girl eventually gets off.

Similar to the film The Uninvited, we have decided to make the girl imagine things, i.e. the boy is just in her imagination. This can only be seen at the end, when she waves him off and he’s not really there
